Used Honda Tax at work. You're buying the unused miles km. 190k km is only about 120k miles. 160k is about 100k. Not bad at ALL :)

If you're in Canada, why not a CSX or 1.7EL? They even have a CSX Type-S with the 8000 rpm K20 and heated seats and all that luxury and prestige in a reliable fuel-efficient package. You should also consider a used B-Class; they even have a turbo manual version!!

Oh my I'm so ANGRY they never sold those down here. I love 4-cylinder luxury cars.

All used cars are stupid expensive. Last time I checked, the TSX Type-S (I believe that's what they're called?) fetches for $17k, according to Autotrader.

I recently purchased a 2008 TL with 48,500 km (!) for $17,888. Here's my review:

http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/2008-acura-tl-…

In my search for a TL I was finding ones with 100,000-150,000k still going for 12-15k. So yes, they're very pricey, but for a reason. Part of it is indeed the "Honda Tax" as another Oppo in this thread perfectly put it. Some used Hondas are certainly over-valued. But the perception in the average car buyer's mind is that Honda/Acuras are very reliable, much more so than the Germans, and they're not really wrong, are they?

EL is far too old

and the CSX is just a civic. I dont mean mechanically. the interior is IDENTICAL to a civic. They literally just stuck a couple of acura badges on and charged another 3 grand.

not to mention the prices are almost as bad. 07 type S with 185k km is north of 10K.

Maybe I should just buy the auto. the prices/milage for the autos are MUCH more reasonable

I really like the way they look. and I know I can get my parents on board with this (dad REALLY liked those TL's) I'm also splitting the cost with my roommate so its going to be our car, that I intend on buying it out once I have the cash.

CSX is incredibly overpriced here. You get a leather civic (which you can get on a civic anyways) for like $4k more. Not worth it in the slightest.

EL and CSX are not luxury cars. They are fully loaded Civics badged as Luxury cars. For $1-2 grand more than the fully loaded civics.

I don't care, I'd still take a CSX because of the leather, heated seats, heated mirrors, and the more prestigious name. Also, the automatic CSX's have paddle shifters not available on any US-bound Civic.

2001-2005 is NOT TOO OLD for a Honda. They are GREAT cars! Are you used to American and German shit by any chance? The German New Malaise Era was 1998-2005. But Japanese cars were not affected. My 1996 Toyota definitely isn't "too old" and it has 209k miles, or about 330k km!

185k km is only about 120k miles, which is absolutely NOTHING to worry about :)

What are B-class prices like? Not a Honda, but still really cool.

Seriously, they charge so much for these, why would you buy used? I really can't figure out why people buy them at these prices. We looked at one that was about $3K off sticker and it was a year old and had about 20K on it. With new versus used financing, I bet it was MORE per month to buy a used car.

Aren't all cars overpriced up there though? Yeah you can get a leather Civic, but not heated seats and mirrors. Honda really made a mistake by not selling the CSX down here; even though they're just rebadged Civics, people would gobble them up. Also, the automatic CSX has paddle shifters not offered on any US-market Honda, and a little extra power (the 160-hp K20 carried over from the base RSX)

I also like the Infiniti G20, a rebadged Sentra.

I mean yeah, it's little things here and there its better, but it's not really worth the money.
Heated Seats and Mirrors would be like almost 5 grand more than a base civic.

The CSX is designed in Canada, not based on the JDM Civic like everyone thinks (the JDM Civic is based off the CSX)

In general cars are more expensive than the US because fuck canadians.

Honda and Ford for example will let Canadians buy from the US, while Hyundai and Subaru might not. It's mostly dealership dependant but I believe a few companies are strict about it so they can milk canadians.

If you live here, even as a Jalop, you don't notice cars are Canadian-exclusive. I didn't know about the B-class until like a week ago, and i'd still rather have an A45 hatch.

Also, Honda knows that Americans might buy a Luxury Civic, thats why the ILX is in the states, that's the same case as a CSX or EL, Acura Civic. I assume EL and CSX where Canadian exclusive because The Civic has been Canada's best selling car since the early 90s.

The Camry has had that spot, and so has the F-150 if you count that, in the US. While the Civic is here. Honda thought the Civic would just do better in Civic-loving Canada.
